Ever wondered what sorts of things a VA can actually do? One of my clients did and recently asked me for a list. So, here’s that list. This is by no means comprehensive and if the task isn’t on this list it doesn’t mean a VA can’t do it. Just ask and you’ll find out!
- Document production – including letters, reports, spreadsheets etc
- Proofreading and editing services
- Copywriting
- Desktop publishing – including newsletters, price lists, menus, flyers, brochures, advertising etc
- Bookkeeping – including preparation of BAS IF they’re registered and meet ATO requirements (in Australia)
- Transcription services – digital, tape, shorthand
- Email response – including monitoring of email accounts either online or via remote access to client PCs
- Calendar management
- Function arrangement
- Travel – including booking flights, accommodation, rental cars etc
- Telephone answering services
- Database set up and management
- Contacts management
- Mail outs – including fax and email
- Virtual office – if the client doesn’t have an office of their own – including provision of email address, fax/phone and PO box
- Internet research
- eBay purchases
- Article submissions to online resources
- Link exchange programs and other internet “relationship marketing”
- Web design and updating of sites
- WordPress site management
- Blog control – including set up and posting
- Forum moderation
- Web-conferencing and VoIP conferencing services
- Podcasting
- Video editing services
- Onsite filing and office management (some – but not all – do this)
- Association management
- Presentation preparation – eg PowerPoint, Keynote
- Help Desk services
- Training – software
Phew! As I said this isn’t necessarily ALL a VA can do – and not all VAs provide all these services – so if you’re not sure just ask.
